No Pet Left Behind by Gayle Martz with Delilah Smittle
No Pet Left Behind, The Sherpa Guide for Traveling with Your Best Friend is a marvelous pocket book. A quick and easy read full of information that will help newbies to pet travel, and even offers a few useful tips for those of us who have been traveling with our pets for years. Before leaving your home, you'll know exactly what you can expect at your holiday destination.
I began this book expecting it to read like an infomercial in written form - it does have the Sherpa name on it, after all. So I was pleasantly surprised at how general most of the advice was. Whether you use Sherpa brand products or not, the tips and information remain equally valuable.
The advice in No Pet Left Behind covers everything from plane travel and cross-country driving excursions, to hopping on a city bus with your pet. It also includes information on specific destinations, like Mexico or the British Isles. There's even a section on pet specific first aid in the wilderness. Anything you could possibly want to know about traveling with your pet (and that includes traveling with birds, pocket pets, cats, dogs, and others) is contained in this handy volume.
The reference section at the rear of the book already contains all the important contact information you could possibly need - 40 pages worth! Which saves a ton of footwork when planning your next get-away. From a guide to international airlines and their regulations regarding pets in cabin to pet-friendly boat charters, international embassies, and even Veterinarian referral services. Phone numbers, fax numbers, addresses, websites, and more.
I didn't expect a whole lot from this book, yet that's what it delivered; a whole heck of a lot. This is one book that's handy (and small) enough to have earned a permanent place in my luggage.
